Patagonia

For the past few days, we've been staying in Patagonia Lake State Park in southeastern Arizona (actually paying, yes, paying $15 a night.) Patagonia Lake is a surprise in the middle of the driest, most barren land imaginable, or maybe I just think that because we left the green, green Florence Junction. You be the judge.

First here is the gorgeous lake created by damming the Sonoita creek. We're not sure why, but this lake is actually full to capacity, unlike Mead and Powell and every other reservoir in the US.

We're here with the WINs and some of us decided to take a short hike down to the creek. On the way we passed these white cows. City girl that I am, I never saw white cows.

We found the stream and had to see what was on the other side.

Linda decided to improve the crossing.

This is Sonoita Creek. Sure I guess I could have colored it up a bit, but really this is what it looked like. You'd think we were in a place that actually has winter!

  1. Nice pictures! Was sorry I missed this gathering, but I guess I was expecting more green too.
