Nestled among the verdant Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, Mountain View could be designated the 'Heart of the Ozarks.' However, the sign that welcomes you to town proclaims it to be the 'Folk Music Capital of the World'. Whether that is factual or not, the town is completely unique. Everywhere you go, music is a theme. Besides the Ozark Folk Center (in the previous post,) there's the Dulcimer Shop in town where you can watch dulcimers being made. Every night there is a choice of music venues where you can listen, participate, or dance. Most evenings, the locals gather to jam on the grounds around the courthouse. And above all, the people are welcoming and friendly.
Here is the courthouse during the slow time of day.
The local pharmacy has a lovely old fashioned soda fountain.
Diana and I roamed the shops today while most of the group kayaked (once a week is enough for me.) Here she is shopping in an old bank vault. Unfortunately somebody had removed all the money.
