The downtown shopping area is so unique.
We had picked up information on the downtown walking tour at the visitors center. They call it 'The Red Tile Tour.' At first I was thinking we'd be following red tiles in the sidewalk like the Freedom Trail in Boston. How silly. The buildings are all that lovely Spanish motif with red tile roofs, even this tiny building surrounded by a parking lot. Ron wouldn't agree to see the psychic who works there.
Believe it or not, this is the post office. Ron didn't believe me until we walked around to the front.
It was all just so clean and beautiful.
But the fast food restaurants really made us laugh.
And the 7-Eleven.
Old Mission Santa Barbara, originally built in 1786, underwent major reconstructions in the 1920's and 1950's.
We didn't tour this one, but the outside is certainly colorful. (And now I'm sure I'll get comments that this is the prettiest one.)
It's pretty ... but I think I prefer the traditional white-wash buildings more.
ReplyDeletethat is the prettiest 7-11 I've ever seen...
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since we were in Santa Barbara. It sure is a pretty place.
