San Diego Wrap up

Already I'm way behind.  I just have no stick-to-it-tivness.  On our last day in Mission Bay, we took the RV into the Ford dealer because it kept stalling when coming to a stop.  Not good. Luckily the Ford dealer was only about a mile away, so we dropped it off which was easier said than done on Ron's part.

We hopped in the car and took off to the Embarcadero, or waterfront, in downtown San Diego.  We parked in the lot for the USS Midway for $10.

I confess that we didn't tour this magnificent aircraft carrier, but were awed by its size and presence.

I loved this giant statue commemorating the iconic kiss photo by Alfred Eisenstaedt taken at the end of World War II.

And her precious shoes which had to be five feet in length or size one gillion.

We wandered down to Seaport Village, actually just a touristy shopping area, but with cute buildings and landscaping.

You could tell this mallard felt safe there as she let her tiny ducklings swim around without her.

I had to laugh when we spotted this sign in a window. . .

Right before seeing this warning in the sidewalk.

We also admired the Star of India, a three masted bark, which is on permanent display.  In case you don't know what a bark is, I looked it up for you.
a sailing vessel having three or more masts, square-rigged on all but the aftermost mast, which is fore-and-aft-rigged.

According to the signage, this is the oldest iron-hulled merchant ship afloat, built in 1863.

There were also some other cool-looking sailing ships on display.

And how about the RV, you may ask.  Well after keeping it all day, they really didn't find anything wrong and just reset some things on the computer.  You know what they say, "When in doubt, reboot."  The good news is that it's been nine days now and it hasn't stalled yet.  (Knock on wood.)

But, for me, the best thing about our stay in San Diego was getting to see my niece Corrie. her husband Brian and their kids, my faux grandchilden, Mara and Jonathan.

(Brian was late and missed the family picture.)

We had a great dinner at Fat Fish Grille and Cantina, followed by made-to-order ice cream sandwiches for the kids.  Such fun!

  1. And I thought bark was what dogs do.

  2. Why did they think computers should go in engines?

  3. Sounds like you had a great time.
Next time you're in San Diego, do tour the USS Midway. They have a really nice setup there.

  4. Bringing back common sense ... I don't know; I think that's a lost cause. Midway must be new in SD since the last time we were in the city ... which was way too long ago.
